The combative Gunners midfielder has joined the Championship side on loan until January and like Song, who made a similar switch in 2007 as a 19-year-old, Frimpong wants to use his time at the Valley to impress Arsene Wenger.

"I'm very happy to be here. I know Charlton is a good club which has been in the Premier League for a number of years," he said. "At the moment they are in the Championship, but I am just here to get playing and help the team push up the table.

"Training has been very good. There have been loads of games and the lads are just enjoying the training, which is nice to see. Everyone is competing to play on the weekend.

"The whole reason why I'm here is to play games. I have been injured and for me to come back and play straight away in the Arsenal team is a big ask. The manager just told me to come here, play a few games until January and see what happens.

"Hopefully I can follow in Alex's footsteps. He came here when Charlton were in the Premier League and he did very well to help the team. He improved his game and that is why after he left he went to play in the Arsenal first team. Hopefully I can follow in his footsteps and do the same thing."

I

still can't see the Phil Jones thing that some people go on about. Whenever I watch him play it's a repeat of headless chicken meets a gurning Bambi on ice for 90 minutes.

P

robably the first list I've come across in a long time where I agree with a large majority of what was written. Can't agree with everything though, Zaba has had an awful season by his standards, I'd put Monreal (a player who I've never rated) up there, gotta give credit where it's due, he's really stepped up his game.
