Jay_D - we should always start Kos..... Mertesacker is worse than useless. How a defender that tall can continuously lose out on headers is beyond me.....and slow isn't the word. dreadful.

I'd like to see the Ox start. I can't understand why he's been on the bench while Ramsey gets on the pitch.

If we play to the level we are capable of, we are more than capable of beating this Spurs team, Bale or no Bale. The problem is I don't remember the last time we did that! I think we can contain Bale if he sticks to the flank or otherwise defend his crosses, the problem is when he comes in field. Bale running at Mertesacker would be...laughable, and I don't fancy Arteta's chances either so I'd start Koscielny with Vermaelen. I'd start Diaby too but, shockingly, I think he's injured. Going forward, I'd focus our efforts on our right flank. Walcott is a more consistent threat than Podolski (take that as you will), and Bale is unlikely to come back and help defend. Alternatively, we could play Theo upfront, Carzola on the right and instruct Walcott to target the space in-between the centre and left back. Would also be good to see Walcott collect the ball from deep and have a run at Dawson.
