Wenger: We can get through

Well, Wenger was closer to being right than most of his teams 'supporters'. Arsenal are turning into my second team now, if only to not see an excellent manager hounded out by supporters with a short memory. What he's done for the club over the years has been outstanding. And it still is. ganachus - well said, you were very nearly right. I'm sure that performance will still not satisfy the mob, though.

littler_dutch, so don't read it then. But it does have plenty to do with what Wenger said here. If we hadn't depleted our squad to keep shareholders happy, perhaps we wouldn't be in such a pathetic position going into the second leg on Wednesday, and Wenger might not sound like he's spinning the same old nonsense about spirit, belief and no doubt in the post match interview, handbrakes.

That's all lovely lotsofdogs but it has f*ck all relevance to what Wenger has said here. Namely that we stand a small chance of winning this game. Why does every single thread about Arsenal, no matter what has been said or done, always have to turn into a navel gazing self flagellation session. Give it a rest for just one thread please. If you want to whip yourself intoa frenzy over those things over and over again, fine, do it. Makes little difference to me. Those are worthy questions you're raising but they honestly don't have to be brought up in every single vaguely Arsenal related thread. It's unbelievably grinding to rad it again and again and again and again and again, day in, day out, on the most flimsy of pretexts. Like I said, have a f*cking day off and stop trying to grind everyone down till they're as miserable as you are.

I know it will come across as a little (extremely) naive, but surely I can't be the only gooner who thinks we could just pull it off? We came back from 4-0 down against Reading to win in COC, and we very nearly came back from 4-0 in CL last year vs Milan. In fact, we only needed one goal in the second half and we would have been in ET! There is no doubting the quality of this Bayern side, and if they go through, I hope they do very well as they are an excellent team. But on our day, so are we! Going back to comments from players like Ribery post first leg, said they did not expect to beat us so "easily". Let's hope they underestimate us and put in a sub par performance, then who knows? It requires a lot of ifs, and a "near-perfect" away performance, but I support my club no matter what, and a lot of cynical arsenal fans would do well to remember the same.

Thing is, it's hard not to be negative about Wenger and the board who are always giving him their "full support". What did they think would happen after selling off all their best players and replacing them with mediocre ones? How long are we supposed to put up with a keystone cops defense that panics every time a ball gets crossed into the box? Arsenal needs new blood on the board, and for Gazidis, Hill-Wood and Kroenke to "Do One" ASAP. We need proper owners who will invest decent money. The point of a football club is to win things, and to keep the fans, not the shareholders happy. Yes...Have some fiscal responsibility but for the love of god...Spend some of the money made from selling players on, I don't know.....Buying new ones that are decent replacements?

@thefraser(arsenal): yes it's been an awful season. No we are unlikely to progress but if you want to roll over and die, be my guest but kindly DO NOT SLAG OFF WENGER. Criticism is one thing, what you and other so called supporters are doing is disrespectful and unhelpful. If you cannot find it in your heart to cheer the team on to attempt the impossible them be so kind as to P**S of!!!

Once again the comments section just demonstrates the utterly relentless tide of negativity and cynicism the club fights when even the most mundane uttering is treated with such furious anger. What in the name of Satan's portion do you want him to say? "Nah, we've got no chance." If he said that I'm sure all of you quick to anger miserablists would be here congratulating Wenger on his honesty. Have a f*cking day off, honestly.
