Various clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa, were heavily linked with the Morocco international ahead of the 2013/14 campaign.

With Montpellier aware that the time had come for them to cash-in on the talented playmaker, as his contract ran down, they braced themselves for a flurry of bids.

Belhanda failed to attract the expected level of interest, though, and he ended up joining Dynamo Kiev.

The 24-year-old has refuted claims that he moved to Ukraine purely for the money and insists he would jump at the chance to test himself in England if the opportunity arises further down the line.

"My transfer to Kiev? I didn't have any other offers, apart from Al-Jazira," Belhanda told France Football.

"People talked about Aston Villa and stated that I joined Kiev for money. If it was only for money, I would have joined Al-Jazira. They offered me double the wages I get in Kiev.

"How long will I stay at Dynamo? I don't know. If I have opportunities to go higher, I will seize them.

"I am dreaming about England. Every player wants to play in England one day. I have to experience that.

"My favourite club? Arsenal, of course. It is the club of Frenchmen. Newcastle as well, but they are a step below. Manchester City and Liverpool are exciting too.

"There are so many clubs with big histories. That is England."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
