Villa travel to Swindon in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night after causing an upset by defeating Manchester City 4-2 in the third round.

And the former Norwich boss insists he is going to give it everything he's got to turn things around following the side's worst start to a season in 43 years.

"I'm not going to give marks out of 10 for how we've done but I'm happy with the way we are playing," said Lambert.

"Within the group, we believe in what we are doing. We are not too disappointed with our play.

"We'd like more points but I'm not too disheartened with the way I'm playing.

"Okay, results aren't what we would have liked but I get the sense people want us to do well which is important.

"The fans want us to do well and it's a huge club. We'll give it a right good go to succeed.

"It won't be for a lack of trying on my part."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
