Keane not planning loan move

Robbie Keane has made it clear that he intends to use the next few months to recharge his batteries and get ready for the new Major League Soccer season, rather than take in a spell on loan in the Premier League.

Robbie Keane: Not looking to sign up with a Premier League club on loan

Robbie Keane: Not looking to sign up with a Premier League club on loan

The Los Angeles Galaxy striker spent time with Aston Villa last winter and has reportedly been targeted by a number of English clubs, including Queens Park Rangers, for a short-term deal from January.

The Republic of Ireland international says he has no plans to sign up with anyone as he wants to be in peak condition for next spring, when the 2013 MLS season kicks off and there are a couple of crucial World Cup qualifiers.

"I am going to rest up and get ready for next season with the Galaxy. I haven't even thought about taking up with any other teams, I have a few little niggles that I have to sort out before I even contemplate making any decisions," Keane, currently on a break back home in Dublin, told the Evening Herald.

"There has been a lot of speculation and a few clubs are interested but it wouldn't be right for me to go anywhere if I wasn't 100 per cent fit and ready.

"I don't have any major problems, just an Achilles injury, but if that isn't right, I won't be going anywhere.

"2013 is going to be a big year for Ireland in March - two very important games.

"They will dictate where the team will go so we look forward to it and hopefully it'll be a lucky year for us."

Giovanni Trapattoni's men, currently third in Group C, travel to Stockholm on 22nd March before entertaining Austria at the Aviva Stadium four days later.

"Sweden and Austria are the two teams that are going to be around us," said Keane.

"I didn't see the game but I heard Sweden were very good against England and I think they are similar to us, not too many differences.

"When you look at Germany, it's fair to say, they will win the group and it's up to us to finish second as we always do and go into a play-off.

"We are still in with a shout and these two games are make or break but we have as much chance as anyone else."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
