Alan Hutton: Would welcome an extended stay at Mallorca

The Scotland international joined Mallorca on loan until the end of the season on Tuesday, having not made a single appearance for Villa this term.

The Spanish side, who are currently second-bottom of the Primera Liga with only four wins this season, have the option to agree a permanent deal for the defender in the summer.

Hutton, who was loaned to Nottingham Forest earlier in the season, making seven appearances, would welcome a longer move.

He told the Daily Record: "It would be a brilliant thing for me to stay on. First and foremost I know I need to prove to everybody what I can give to the team and that I deserve to be here.

"There are a lot of flair players here to deal with. I hope that will help me improve my game and become a better player in the long run.

"This is a great opportunity. It's something totally different to come to a different county and experience so many new things.

"I am happy to be here and looking forward to being involved in what's going on in the future."
