The 22-year-old is expected in Birmingham for talks once a deal has been finalised with his club.

A statement on Villa's website read: The club expects to conclude the deal, subject to a medical and personal terms, in the next 10 days."

Helenius scored 16 goals for Aalborg last season, second only to FC Copenhagen's Andreas Cornelius, and has 35 goals in 95 total appearances.

He won the first of two Denmark caps in August 2012 and was named the country's player of the year in an end-of-season review on the UEFA website.

t's a bloody good goal, though. Sh!t, the kid's gonna be the worlds best before we know it, isn't he? He's got the touch of genius in him. Like Neymar, but with muscles and stuff. He's doing a Ronaldo as we watch. He's bulked up to be able to ride the tackles, but he's improved technically as well. His touch is sublime. Bugger.
