Okore, who suffered the serious injury against Newcastle, will have surgery on Wednesday and faces nine months on the sidelines.

However, the 21-year-old, who joined Villa for £4m from FC Nordsjaelland during the summer, hopes to come back even stronger than before.

Okore told the Birmingham Mail: "I was really down and sad the first couple of days.

"At the beginning, I just thought it was a minor injury and that I would be out for a couple of weeks. So it was really a big blow when I was told about the serious injury.

"It's really harsh for me that I'm out for so long a time now, because I felt I had the chance to play in the team every match.

"I expect to go through the operation on Wednesday, and after that I will fight to come back in the same shape as before. I'm confident that I will come back even stronger.

"I have never had this kind of injury before, so it will strengthen me mentally, but I would gladly have avoided this situation."

Villa manager Paul Lambert has offered told the defender to concentrate on focus on his recovery.

"I feel that I got a good start to the season and was able to show the manager and the fans that I can play at this level," added Okore.

"That was really important for me. The manager also told me that he was happy with my start in the club and that shouldn't worry about anything and just focus on getting back."

think that puts all doubts over Benteke's quality to bed. Can he do it after receiving the ball to feet, in the box, totally unmarked, on a warm, sunny afternoon in Swindon? Oh yes he can! This year is definitely Liverpool's year. YNWA.

ll very well selling all midfield and strikers but unless we bring anyone in that is better than what we had then it will be a terrible transfer window in my view. Sorted out the defense but our midfield and striker options look very light.

ove it when Jose accuses others of being defensive, cynical and playing to win. If I was Wenger, I'd get that quote laminated and framed - surely the biggest compliment he's ever received from Mourinho. You've got him riled Arsene - you're relevant again!
