Weimann opened his Premier League account for the season with the decisive strike as Villa produced the shock of the Premier League weekend to topple Manuel Pellegrini's title hopefuls at Villa Park.

The Austrian striker was left to lead the claret-and-blue frontline with Christian Benteke and Gabby Agbonlahor both sidelined through injury.

Weimann has now scored 16 goals for Villa since joining the club's academy from Rapid Vienna in 2007 and aims to add more options to Paul Lambert's stock of strikers.

"Scoring the winner against Man City, you don't do that every day - it is incredible," the 22-year-old told the Birmingham Mail.

"Everyone has been talking about how we have not won at home for a while but we've just beaten a team that's meant to win the league so this was a massive win for us.

Pressure

''I want to score as many goals as I can but I'm not setting any targets."

Despite the injuries to Benteke and Agbonlahor paving the way for Weimann to break into the starting XI, he insists there is always competition for places.

"Gabby has been in the team and the way Christian has come in and scored so many has been unbelievable," he added. "We are determined to keep on helping Christian so that he's not the only one expected to score."

"You are always under pressure. If you don't perform, I guess you are not going to play but it's good for the team that we have players coming in that can deliver competition.

''Every time I play, I just try to do my best to keep my place in the team.

"Last season was a turning point for me. At first, I was in and out of the team but from December I was involved far more. I've felt a big part of the team and that's been really nice."

couple of wins and everything is OK! Sorry you still haven't got a striker who can consistently goals. Keep searching. I don't think Liverpool will make top four not even Europa League this time around.

f he can find the right player? Surely the manager of one of Europe's top clubs has a well-researched short-list and has a good idea of who he wants to bring on-board? If I can find the right player sounds like someone going out on Saturday night on the pull, and the nearer you get to midnight the lower your standards drop.
