The Villa squad will travel to the Iberian nation for a warm-weather training camp to take advantage of a gap in their fixtures.

The Villans, who played out a goalless draw with Cardiff City in Wales on Tuesday and are now just four points above the Premier League relegation zone, are not in action until a week on Sunday.

Lambert believes that going to Portugal will help his players and insists that they will be training very day.

"They'll train every day," the Birmingham Mail quotes him as saying. "They're going over there to work really.

"It's just a normal week. The important thing is we haven't a game on Saturday.

"We've decided to give them a break. They deserve it for all the work they've put in. We'll go and work hard. Where are we going? Somewhere abroad.

"I've done it before with teams and it's good. Most teams who are knocked out of the competition will probably look to go away and we're not any different."
