The Tykes have failed to score in open play in their first three matches this season, including last week's Capital One Cup penalty shootout win over Scunthorpe, and Flitcroft admitted his side's lack of firepower was a cause for concern.

"Some of our counter-attacks weren't good enough, we didn't have a cutting edge," he said after seeing defender Scott Wiseman's own goal four minutes into injury time at Blackpool on Saturday condemn Barnsley to a third successive defeat.

"We've a few issues, but we'll work hard.

"We need a finisher, it's hotting up this last week, it's been manic behind the scenes. We need one, possibly two."

Chris O'Grady, who completed a permanent move from Sheffield Wednesday in June, has started alongside Chris Dagnall, with Jason Scotland stepping off the substitutes' bench in all three games so far.
