Peter Ramage: Has joined Barnsley on loan from Crystal Palace

The 29-year-old former Newcastle and QPR defender joined the Reds on transfer deadline day as Barnsley boss David Flitcroft wasted little time in drafting in a new defender following Scott Golbourne's departure last week to Wolves.

"I'm really excited," Ramage told the club's official website.

"It's been a bit of a whirlwind the last couple of hours, but I can't wait to get going.

"I've been coming to Barnsley since I was 12 years old as a kid with Newcastle and it's always been a hard place to come and play.

"I've never had much success here in terms of results, but hopefully now I'm on the home side that continues for the opposition!

"I'm not going to tear up any trees with flicks and thrills and skills. I'm hard-working, wear my heart on my sleeve and give 100 per cent both on and off the pitch.

"I'm fit, ready and raring to go."
