Barnsley manager Danny Wilson is in talks with former Stoke City winger Liam Lawrence over a possible move to Oakwell.

Liam Lawrence: In action for PAOK against Schalke in August

Lawrence joined Greek side PAOK Salonika on a two-year deal in 2012 but has only played twice so far this season in the Greek Super League.

The 32-year-old started his career at Mansfield Town, before signing for Sunderland in June 2005.

He joined Stoke City on loan in 2006 and made his move permanent in of the following year.

Lawrence, who has 15 caps for the Republic of Ireland, signed for Portsmouth in 2010 but spent time out on loan at Cardiff City before heading to Greece.

Meanwhile, 19-year-old Liverpool youngster Ryan McLaughlin has joined Barnsley on an initial one-month youth loan.
