Michael Smith: Target for a number of clubs

Sky Sports understands the likes of Brentford, Barnsley and Peterborough are all monitoring Smith's situation at Rovers following their relegation from the Football League.

Smith has attracted the interest of a host of clubs after an impressive season for Rovers despite their relegation.

The 25-year-old, who is entering the final year of his contract at the Memorial Stadium, was named in the PFA's League Two team of the year last term and also scooped the club's player of the season prize following a stellar campaign.

Bristol Rovers are reluctant to lose Smith and have offered him a new deal, but they may struggle to match offers from elsewhere with the player keen to play at the highest level possible.
