@justinian, Stoke have spent a lot of money in the last 2 seasons. Probably the 4th or 5th highest. So they should do much much better. When you see Swansea play the way they play with their budget and then hear Pulis moaning after being outclassed by one of the big boys and blaming it all on the money their opposition has spent, don't you just want to punch him on the face?

Arsenal have a leaky defence because they are the team who have conceded the highest amount of goals through individual errors. Simple really.

shall we all stop going on about goals concede??? the only stat that reall counts is games won. It reall doesnt matter that side A have conceded less than side B if side A has lost more than B. Oh for the days before umpteen stats!!

"without his [Bale's] long shots Spuds would be out of Europe and a few points behind us." Thats like saying last year Spurs would have finished 20 points clear of Arsenal had it not been for RVP. It's just a ridiculous comment. You dont have RVP anymore though and we do - as you have pointed out - have a player capable of scoring leading to us winning more points than you. Fact is, we have got more points than you. Even if you won on Sunday, we would STILL have more points than you.

You quoted something that wasn't there you donut! Also the analysis on defences was during a paragraph about recent form, and no where did I defend Spurs' defence. Take away the 5 your lot put past us while we had 10 men and it looks a bit different anyway.

"against an Arsenal defence that has hardly been watertight" Now if something is 'not watertight' ...thats right it's leaky. And to say error prone....well how is a team who have conceded 30 goals more error prone to a team who have conceded 32 goals....?

Any actual facts to back up your assertions that Stoke could do so much more? Based on their wage bill? Their personnel? Their history? What, exactly?

nicos - where did you imagine that "leaky defence" quote from? It's not mentioned once in the article or in any comments down here. Me thinks your subconcious might be playing tricks on you! Lets humour your imagination for a minute though and say that if someone had said leaky defence that would be inaccurate, but if someone had said error prone could you argue against that? Regarding the game, all the attention is on Bale which suits our little Lennon. I predict he will have a lot of fun teasing their new boy Monreal. 3-1 Spurs.

I hate derby games. Just always have that overriding feeling of not really caring about winning but hoping that we just don't lose. If we were to win then in order of preference: 1/ a majestic and glorious scoreline which shows our dominance and we will by several clear goals which are only described as a thrashing. If not then.. 2/ A freekick after a Bale dive which hit's Lennon's hand after Vertonghen pushes Sagna who is well ahead of the offside Dembele and cannons off Adebayor when he impedes SirChesny after we have been outplayed all game since Jack Wilshere was sent off after being fouled by Gallas..Wenger literally explodes and AVB is sniggering and dacing a merry jig. Actually on balance I think I would prefer 2 to 1...anyway, Spurs...just dont bloody lose.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
