City Looking To Peak At The Right Time

City can go top for the first time since January 29, whilst Paul Lambert, Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce might all need wins to save their jobs. It's Daniel Storey's Big Weekend...

I fully expect City to be too strong for Everton and to go on and win the league, it's their title now and to be fair they have won it well. Come what may it has been a phenomenal season for Liverpool, whilst there has never been any pressure on us to finish higher than 4th. Next season will be a different story there will be pressure on us to compete for the title. I don't expect much from us in the CL, I think if we get a good draw in the group stages and get out of the group that would be an excellent achievement and I would be happy with that. Next season should be about finishing in the top 3 again and going as far as we can in the CL. This summer is going to be one of the biggest transfer markets in recent memory for us, we need to get quality players in and asap.

Had Everton got a result at Southampton I think there is no doubt that the players would be giving everything to put pressure on Arsenal. Realistically, though, I'm sure they feel the game is up. But this idea that teams don't make any effort to allow their rivals to be overtaken is just stupid. They are not supporters and they have other interests, like attracting bids from other clubs, to consider. The Everton players will try, the main problem is that they probably don't believe they will catch Arsenal, so a half hearted Everton team is unlikely to be strong enough for a City team who have everything to play for. jd.quench - Yes, Gerrard has a catalogue of errors against Chelsea, own goals in cup finals, bad back passes and then last weekend. Had he signed for Chelsea, he probably couldn't have been so influential against Liverpool.

Am I missing something? Does memory serve me correctly when I say 95 was the season Blackburn won it, despite losing to the scouse in a game watched by Liverpool fans cheering for the opposition? Didn't that idiot Redknapp score quite a decent goal, while United were busy peppering West Ham's goal, but failing to find a winner? And don't tell me, I know I could just go and look it up...

I think what jd.quench is trying to say is, like swings and roundabouts two wrongs don't make a right, and like that inequality the scars of Gerrards faux pas are still considered malicious rather than unfortunate to this years unfortunate Devils. I also hope Everton put in a shift as well @newfowler, I shall be duct taping the fat lady at 5:30 Saturday and fingers crossed she doesn't escape before 7:30.

Yeah jd. If you actually remember that game we tried. We were losing to everyone in 2010.

new1fowler_9 - at least you atoned for not screwing United in 95 by screwing them in 2010 with that once in a lifetime mistake by Stevie G against Chel - oh, hang on...

"City can win the league despite being top for just five days all season." - Like most things here context is key. What is missing is that because of City's extended run in both domestic cup competitions and the weather a total of three games had to be re-scheduled. So we were always playing catch up in the 2nd half of the season having played less games. It will only be the last Wednesday of the season when we finally catch up.
