The Dutch-born striker has come through the youth ranks at St Andrew's and is highly regarded by the club's management.

His current deal was due to expire, but Sky Sports can confirm he has now agreed a new 12-month contract with an option for a further year.

The 20-year-old has made one appearance for the Blues, but has spent time on loan at Northampton and Shrewsbury over the past 12 months.

Birmingham will now be hoping that Asante can push for a first-team spot in Lee Clark's side next season.
