The 37-year-old was appointed as Rovers boss on 11 January and, after losing his first game in charge, they have gone five games unbeaten to put them in contention for a play-off spot.

In their last game, Rovers claimed a hard-fought point at Brighton and Appleton believes there is room for improvement.

"I still think we can be much better in possession of the ball at times, some of our decision making wasn't great," said Appleton.

"I think that in our next few games we'll make better decisions in the opposition's half than we have done.

"There were a couple of players in possession of the ball who had a poor evening.

"I've only been in the football club six or seven weeks, we need to be better in the final third, much better than we were against Brighton."

The eight points Rovers have earned under Appleton's management have moved them up to eighth in the table and four points short of the top six.

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
