With the greatest of respect to the likes of Gillingham, an away trip down to the Priestfield is a far cry from an encounter at Old Trafford.

This past Easter weekend marked the 12 month anniversary since we welcomed Sir Alex Ferguson and his team to Ewood Park, and as I sit here writing this, I wonder when we might see them again. Perhaps we'll get a lucky cup draw and a shot at a giant killing. League One is looming and to be honest, I'm scared.

Our heads are above water on nothing but goal difference, and Saturday's match at Hillsborough against Sheffield Wednesday has all the makings of a classic six pointer.

Amidst all the talk of Venky's and the frivolous distribution of P45's, our freefall down the table has left us in a scrap. A dog fight. A battle.

Lest we forget, I write this as a fan and it pains me to see the situation that we are in, however if truth be told, it's growing tiresome. Yes, we want the club on a solid foundation again, yes we want to see some pride injected back into the town and yes, we want to be 'back where we belong', however we need to stop talking a good game and start playing one.

Until I see Shebby Singh take to the hallowed turf in a blue and white jersey, it's time to roll up our sleeves and make sure we put in the performances that see us put points on the board. No league wins in nine is why we are where we are and that's the reality.

We talk of a fans boycott and in part, I agree. However they have not worked in the past and I don't see any reason as to why they would work now.

The Venky's seem largely unperturbed by the decline in footgfall through the turnstiles. I don't even think they even know what the average attendance is and I doubt they really care.

I'm not naive enough to think that off the field matters do not have negative repercussions on the XI selected, more so that it would be refreshing to focus on these next seven games that could be make or break for the club, as opposed to those who are 'running' it.

Financially, we're 'ok' (and I use this term as loosely as possible, in a football specific context), but the real damage that comes with being relegated to League One is how unattractive we would be to future managers and investors (hopeful - I know).

When the season kicked off there was a wave of optimism that our ability would shine through and the issues of ownership would pale into insignificance as we romped to the Championship title at a canter with a squad oozing in Premiership class and capability.

It hasn't quite worked out, has it?

There are a lot of deep rooted issues in the club at the moment and I fear we have barely scratched the surface with how bad it really is. I ask myself what I can do to affect chance and make it all just go away?

I've written articles, stayed away, tweeted, chanted and cried, but it just gets worse. I just end up shaking my head in disbelief as to how it ended up this bad. I sat in the Riverside last Friday and looked across at the away following to see one lonely chicken amongst a sea of tangerine. I bet he thought he was hilarious.

Nobody has thought of that one before. Nice one. What really struck me though was the complete apathy shown by the Ewood faithful.

Sure, there were a few quiet words exchanged, but it was a stark contrast to the end of last season's outpouring of hatred to our ever-elusive owners.

In summary, we need to get behind the team as it becomes a seven game season. Let's all go to St Andrew's on the last day of the season, safe from relegation, having backed the lads to get the job done. We can even sing songs about the Venky's like the 'good old days'.

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
