Holloway was unveiled to supporters at half-time, having joined from Blackpool on a four-and-a-half-year deal earlier in the day, and watched from the stands as Glenn Murray's double moved the Eagles up to third.

"How lucky are we to see a team like this? It's fantastic," he said to the crowd. "I think I have got goosebumps on the back of my neck to get an opportunity like this.

"People ask me why I have come here but the board sold me their dream about what they want for their club and with their energy and my energy let's hope we can all be very happy."

Palace caretaker manager Curtis Fleming admitted he was unsure if he would join former boss Dougie Freedman at Bolton or stay at Selhurst Park but was thrilled with the performance.

"They were fantastic," he said. "I think they should be playing with confidence but we should concentrate on what we do and not get carried away. Everyone has to work hard.

"Ian came in before the match. He was lively, as he is, and I think the lads quite enjoyed it and they will quite enjoy working with him."

heyremind me of Utd's treble winning side. Swashbuckling and risk prone. We ha Jaap Stam to paper over the cracks at the back though. Not sure they have their Jaap yet.

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.
