Owen Coyle: Not taking charge of Blackpool

Blackpool are believed to have held talks with Coyle and his representatives on Friday - but having already rebuffed them once, he again decided not to take up the offer.

Blackpool currently have caretaker Steve Thompson in charge following Michael Appleton's departure to Blackburn, and they had thought Billy Davies was ready to take charge before he returned to Nottingham Forest.

Now the Tangerines hierarchy are looking again at Robins who, like Coyle, snubbed them in January.

It is believed Robins - who has also been strongly linked with the Huddersfield Town vacancy - is unlikely to take the job at Blackpool.

A source close to the club confirmed to us: "Blackpool have long been keen on Robins, but it seems there is interest from elsewhere - but he is also happy at Coventry and has done a good job there since taking charge.

"Coyle turned them down on Friday as he could not agree a deal - he knows he needs to make the right decision with his next role."

It remains to be seen if Blackpool will make a fresh approach to Coventry to speak with Robins, after previously expressing an interest.

Birmingham's Lee Clark has also been linked with the post, whilst out of work Steve Staunton and Paul Dickov are reported to have applied for the job in recent weeks.
