Dougie Freedman: Believes his new Bolton side will soon be back in the Premier L

Craig Noone put the Bluebirds ahead in the 40th minute before substitute David Ngog brought game-changing drama, winning a penalty for Martin Petrov to convert and then nodding home the winner - before being sent off in the closing seconds.

"I learnt today that this team can respond from setbacks and not just put their heads down when things aren't going right for them," Freedman said.

"We've got a group of players in there who are up for the challenge and this is a team that I think will play in the Premier League.

"It was difficult to take being 1-0 down at half-time, but it was a terrific response from our players after the break.

"I played with one up front because they are a top side and I thought the guys who came on changed the game."

The Scot was happy to praise Ngog's contribution, despite his red card, adding: "Strikers have got to live on the edge and he got his goal and got sent off and I was happy with that.

"Unfortunately, he just boiled over the top, but I've no complaints with him because he was fantastic."
