The Trotters' six-match unbeaten run has, for the moment, allayed any fears that manager Dougie Freedman would be fired after a poor start to the season which saw them propping up the Sky Bet Championship table.

Away wins over Birmingham and Bournemouth have edged Wanderers up to 19th in the table but securing victory at the Reebok Stadium has so far remained elusive this term.

"As a squad we were very disappointed with the start we created for ourselves," said Spearing, recently crowned Championship Player of the Year at the Northwest Football Awards.

"It was all down to our own mistakes, it wasn't teams dominating us or taking over in games.

"Now, these last six games we're unbeaten and the confidence is coming back in to the lads and in the dressing room you can see when you've picked up three points, you're absolutely buzzing.

"The lads are kicking on and fingers crossed we can hopefully carry on that unbeaten run going in to the weekend."

The mystery of why Freedman's side have yet to taste success at home baffles Spearing too.

Bolton, the only second-tier side without a victory as hosts, will hope to rectify that and make it eighth time lucky when Millwall visit this weekend.

Speaking of their Reebok woes, Spearing added: "I wouldn't be able to tell you (why). I think mainly we're not finishing teams off. We keep creating what feels like a stupid amount of chances each game but we're just not finishing teams off and killing the games off.

"If we're 1-0 up we're always leaving them a chance and if they get one great chance they're always going to equalise and it's going to put us under pressure.

"I think we need to make the Reebok a fortress now and we need to try and make teams worried to come there. That's what we're going to try and do, starting this Saturday."

hould have stayed because we carried him for 6.5 years. And then he has a breakthrough season, and was gone soon after. MU fans, you would be as disgusted had C Ronaldo left in 2007 and not 2009.

ood grief. Someone guessed that the form English player at the moment might be in his national side with some other players? And that's espionage? Now if they discovered that Emile Heskey was going to be in the starting line up.... at right back.... THAT would be espionage. Give it a rest Roy.
