Gus Poyet: Wants to produce more homegrown players in the years to come

Poyet has brought in a host of foreign talent at the Amex, with Argentinian striker Leonardo Ulloa this month joining the ranks, which also include Spaniards Vicente, Bruno, Inigo Calderon, David Lopez and Andrea Orlandi.

The Uruguayan does much of his transfer shopping abroad because British players are more expensive, but he is looking forward to the day the club's planned new training ground produces its first graduates.

"It won't happen immediately but when we have the training ground it will take five, six or seven years for that to work for us," he said.

"We respect the need for homegrown players and the players at this club who are 14 or 15 now we will make into better players. In five years Brighton will have British players coming through the academy.

"We need the pitch and the facilities every day and that's coming in a year's time."
