The Seagulls can seal a top-six berth against Leeds next week and in doing so avoid any last-day nerves against Wolves.

Will Buckley scored the opener in the ninth minute before Matthew Upson bundled his first Brighton goal over the line.

Andrea Orlandi, David Lopez also found the net and Ashley Barnes scored twice, with an own-goal by Dean Hammond Blackpool's only consolation.

"It's not done yet and we need to keep going. We will want to finish it next week at Leeds and not have it still undecided going into the final game," said Poyet.

"I was hoping when it was 3-0 at half-time that we wouldn't blow it and lose 4-3 because that could have been the end for us.

"But we are looking good. We have momentum at the right time of the season and are still looking fresh, so we have put ourselves in a really strong position."

Brighton extended their unbeaten run in the Championship to seven games and Poyet believes his squad's strength in depth has been crucial to their success this season.

"I had the best bench I have ever had as a manager today," he added.

"When you have the power, quality and experience we had on the bench, win 6-1, and still don't use players like Leonardo Ulloa and Vicente Rodriguez, you know it's a good day.

"The early goal was key because Paul has a very organised team, who have been very difficult to score against in the last six games.

"It was an excellent display. People at home who couldn't get a ticket would have regretted the situation."

he uber commercialisation of the 90s has led to the point where this overly familar, try hard, jolly hockey sticks type fronts up a major football match on a weekly basis. Unlike the great presenters of yesteryear, I doubt he would even recognise the scent of Brut.

onfirmed. Nick Miller is a douche bag. Lazy, incoherent rant is what this article should be titled. And for the editor to have the temerity to pass this as acceptable writing is shocking. Ah well, anything for clicks right? You got mine. Well done. Your mother must be proud.
