The Seagulls find themselves short on attacking options with Craig Mackail-Smith and Leonardo Ulloa currently sidelined.

They have been able to take Leroy Lita on loan from Swansea City, but remain in the market for further attacking talent.

Reports suggest that Nottingham Forest striker Dexter Blackstock is the man they have their eye on, with the 27-year-old out of favour at the City Ground.

Jones has refused to confirm or deny that Blackstock is the man Brighton want, but admits there could be movement on the transfer front in the near future.

He told the Argus following Saturday's goalless draw with Yeovil Town: "We are looking for someone who will score goals, with presence.

"We think we have him but we have just got to finalise everything. Hopefully he will have someone but you never know. We have been trying for months."

Jones is also tipping Lita - who made his debut off the bench against the Glovers - to shine on the south coast once he has settled in new surroundings.

He added: "If Leroy's at it and right on his game he will do well for us. He's come in for his debut after training with us for one day.

"It's been difficult for him. He came on and did affect the game, got chances. If he keeps getting chances then he will get goals."

e have the personnel. The trick is keeping them fit. Carrick and Blind have missed large chunks of the season, while the defence has been one muddled mess of intermittent stooges, all coming and going at various intervals thus far. We may be just short of title winning quality, but we're half way through. An injury crisis to either of the top two could change things. Optimistic, yes, but not unrealistic.

arish is the man to blame for this shambles. Pulis must be chuckling into his left over turkey sandwich. I pray this doesn't mean the Neil Warnock media machine will kick in now and he'll be back on the telly box.

e almost found a new way to lose, just when I thought it was getting boring Giroud does that. Although Arsenal are deservedly called 'soft' the entire midfield is out injured. Still must admit MU are managing to win despite a similar raft of absentees. Think the Gunners have good players but poorly coached.
