Dean Marney: Enjoying his football

Dean Marney: Enjoying his football

Marney was the Clarets' matchwinner at Hull on Saturday, scoring his third goal of the season after a 55-game goalscoring drought.

The former Tigers player is pleased to be able to add an attacking threat to his game, but says he regrets celebrating in front of his old supporters.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: "Since the new manager has come in and I've had the more advanced role I've been working on my finishing. It was a nice one to go in.

"I've never looked at myself as a sitting midfielder really. Different managers have different opinions and the old manager thought that was my best position.

"Probably, looking back, I regret that (celebrating) a little bit, but I was getting a little bit of stick and I suppose it's just a reaction."
