Young duo make loan exits

Burnley youngsters Shay McCarten and Stevie Hewitt have both been sent out on loan in a bid to gain more first-team football.

McCarten has joined Blue Square Bet Premier outfit Hyde FC on a one-month deal.

The Northern Ireland Under-19 international striker made his Clarets debut as a substitute at Doncaster towards the end of last season but has not been able to add to that sole senior appearance this term.

Hyde are scheduled to play eight league matches before McCarten's initial deal expires on March 2.

Fellow youngster Hewitt, meanwhile, has joined Alfreton until the end of the Blue Square Bet Premier season.

The 19-year-old midfielder has been a regular at reserve-team level since coming through the Clarets' youth system and made his debut against Plymouth in the Capital One Cup earlier this season.

Hewitt becomes the second young player to leave Turf Moor on transfer deadline day with striker Shay McCarten also making a temporary move to the Conference with Hyde.
