Having surged to the top of the Championship standings, the Bluebirds have wobbled slightly of late.
Just two wins have been collected in their last six second tier outings to allow the chasing pack to close in.
Cardiff do, however, still boast a five-point lead at the summit and games in hand on all of their fellow high-fliers.
Mackay insists his side remain as focused as ever on the task in hand and believes the experience he has in his ranks will serve him well over the remainder of the season.
"Inside the football club we make sure we just focus on the games that we have got," he told Sky Sports.
"Myself, the training ground staff and the players are just focusing on the next game that is in front of us.
"We have got a lot of experienced people at the football club, in terms of staff and players, who have been through this a lot, who have been through the Championship, been through being promoted or in the play-offs and being in and around a pressure situation at either end of the season. That makes a difference and helps.
"It's going to be a very tough league between now and the end of the season and there are going to be teams dropping points all the way through. It's going to be about who is as consistent as they can be."
