Le Fondre admitted earlier this month he was unsure of his long-term future at Reading due to the uncertainty over the ownership of the club.

The 27-year-old scored 15 goals for Reading last season despite finding himself in and out of Nigel Adkins' starting XI at the Madejski Stadium.

A number of clubs have been linked with a move for Le Fondre, but Cardiff are hoping to steal a march on their rivals by luring him to Wales.

Cardiff boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is determined to bolster his squad this summer as he plans to make an immediate return to the Premier League and sees Le Fondre as a key addition to his plans.
