Celtic: Huge European night ahead

Celtic: Huge European night ahead

The Hoops were stunned by the Second Division side in the Scottish Cup at Parkhead the weekend.

It was far from being the ideal preparation for a crucial European encounter.

But Forrest is confident Neil Lennon's men will be in the right frame of mind for Wednesday's make-or-break match despite recent problems on the domestic front.

The winger said: "It's good if you've got two games per week.

"If you get a bad result it means you can rectify it two or three days later by getting a good result in another game.

"The boys are over the weekend game now and hopefully we can take care of Arbroath when the replay comes around next week.

"The boys are full of confidence for Wednesday night and that's the main thing.

"We've got the squad to play in all the competitions and we know we can cope in them all."

Celtic must better Benfica's result in Barcelona on the night to seal their place in the knockout stages.

Forrest added: "All the boys have got faith that they can get through to the last 16 and get a good result on Wednesday.

"We've not been in the Champions League for the last few years so it would be a massive achievement."

The visit of Spartak comes too soon for Forrest who has been sidelined with a hamstring complaint.

He said: "Hopefully I'll be back training in the next two weeks.

"It's disappointing to miss the biggest game of the season but that's what happens being a footballer.

"You just have to take it on the chin. You just want the boys to do well."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
