Kilmarnock forward Rory McKenzie is also included for the first time while Celtic goalkeeper Robbie Thomson replaces Tottenham's Jordan Archer, who has a game with loan club Wycombe on Monday night.

Stuart Armstrong, Rhys McCabe and Tony Watt return to the squad after missing the 3-2 friendly defeat to Portugal in November through injury.

Stark said: "Stephen O'Donnell and Stuart Bannigan have been playing really well for Partick Thistle this season so they also have a chance.

"I've also included Rory McKenzie who has been with us at under-19 level and acquitted himself quite well.

"We've been monitoring a number of strikers and giving one or two a chance and he gets the opportunity for this one."

Stark, who will find out his side's next European qualifying opponents on Thursday, added: "Kenny McLean is another player who would have been involved but he is just coming back from injury and some surgery in his knee so it didn't make sense to include him from the point of view of his club."

Scotland Under-21 squad: Kettings (Blackpool), Thomson (Celtic); Duffie (Falkirk), McHattie (Hearts), O'Donnell (Partick), Robertson (Aberdeen), Toshney (Celtic), Wallace (Huddersfield); Armstrong (Dundee United), Bannigan (Partick), Fyvie (Wigan), Holt (Hearts), McCabe (Sheffield Wednesday), Scougall (Livingston); McGeouch (Celtic), McKenzie (Kilmarnock), D Smith (Hearts), Watt (Celtic).

s there a PR agency covering Begovich, Odemwingie, Steven Fletcher and Grant Holt or something? Why would you offer a quote like that without having been announced by either club. #headsshoulderskneesandtoesgone

adly this is inevitable. No club outside the top 4/5 can hang on to anyone who shows that kind of talent anymore. Might be best for them to get as much as they can now while his stock is high and start again. On the plus side lads, Grant Holt is still available.
