Goals from Joe Ledley, Charlie Mulgrew and James Forrest, and a Frazer Wright own goal, helped the 57,000 crowd revel in the post-match presentation of the club's 44th championship trophy.

And Stokes admitted he thoroughly enjoyed the occasion as Neil Lennon's men rounded off the campaign with a 12th straight home win.

"The fans were excellent on Saturday as always, and we were delighted to get a few goals for them before receiving the trophy," said the Irishman.

"The celebrations after the match were brilliant, and we hope all the supporters had another great day here at Celtic Park."

Chief executive Peter Lawwell also paid tribute to the home fans saying: "Getting the league trophy is always a great occasion and the team produced a performance worthy of champions.

"Neil, his backroom staff and all the players deserve congratulations for their efforts in retaining the league title.

"It was a fantastic atmosphere and once again our supporters were magnificent. It's been an important year for the club as we celebrate our 125th anniversary and there have been some great moments along the way."

h Daniel. I could spend hours on this subject putting the world to rights. You can even take a step back and ask why football fans (and society in general) have this need to know that something will happen before it actually does. There are times this important, when it comes to things like war, food production and natural disasters. A man you've never met changing his job? Not so much.

reat article. Hits the nail on the head. Encapsulates why I don't read tabloid newspapers anymore. The only thing worse is the 'told you so first' headline when they get lucky.
