The Serie A outfit have already helped to dash the dreams of one Premier League heavyweight this season, with Manchester City having been edged out at the group stage.
They are now setting their sights on another memorable scalp, with Chelsea due in Italy for the first leg of their last-16 showdown on Tuesday.
Cavani, who netted home and away against City, is confident Napoli can progress to the quarter-finals of Europe's premier club competition and end English interest in the tournament - with Arsenal on the brink of elimination following a 4-0 reversal against AC Milan.
He told the Daily Star: "This is a great chance for us to wreck English football.
"They have such a reputation but this year they have failed and we intend to make things far worse for the English clubs by beating Chelsea.
"We do not fear Chelsea, so we are confident that we can eliminate the last English team.
"We are not suggesting that this will be easy, but, with the way we have been playing, we are very optimistic.
"We are only sixth in Serie A but we are in good form and we will demonstrate that on the pitch."
Cavani believes Napoli will never get a better opportunity to dispose of such a prestigious rival, with Chelsea struggling for form and sweating on the fitness of key men ahead of the game.
He added: "A win for Napoli will be a dream and be a moment of history for the club.
"We can see that Chelsea are not as powerful as they have been in the past, but any English team is a tough prospect.
"It would be fantastic, though, to repeat the type of result that AC Milan produced against Arsenal.
"We feel that they are not the same club without John Terry playing, so we will be hoping that he is not fit for the game."
