The most expensive player on the planet is starting to offer the kind of return Real were hoping for when they dug deep to secure his services over the summer.

Following a frustrating time with niggling knocks, Bale's form and fitness are improving with each passing game.

He managed 75 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Juventus on Tuesday, with a fine second-half strike taking him on to four goals in nine outings for Real.

"It's always nice to get a goal," he told Sky Sports.

"It's obviously a difficult place to come, in Juventus it's such a hostile atmosphere. I think a point isn't a bad result.

"Obviously we came here to win, but we'll take it and move on to the next game and try to qualify as quickly as possible.

"I've come back and played three games in a week. I'm still building my fitness up.

"I'm not sure why I was taken off, but it's obviously the manager's decision and I've got to do what is best for the team."

The prolific Cristiano Ronaldo was also on target in Turin, taking his tally in the UEFA Champions League group stage this term to eight, and he is delighted to have helped Real book their place in the knockout stage and seen Bale underline his value to the team.

The Portuguese forward said: "We knew it would be a difficult game, especially away against Juventus.

"We knew that they would put 100 per cent in on the pitch because they need points. But one point for us is good. We are already qualified and we are very happy for that.

"Bale helped the team a lot. He is a fantastic player and showed that he is a very good player. We are happy that we have him here with us."

t's wrong to be making a joke out of Bender's name at the expense of gay people. It's the kind of childish, uncivilised thing that Football365 would deride and ridicule if it was another media outlet saying. Why is there a need for jokes like this? Does it make your writers feel like men? F365 might suggest that I 'lighten up', but it is genuinely traumatic for people who have been oppressed all their lives to be the butt of jokes, and to be told...

ou can't blame De Gea for wanting to leave, he has enough to do in front of goal as it is as well as taking on the role of Man Utd's version of Derek Acorah in trying to contact and organise a defence that isn't there.

f you want to take six points off Arsenal, then that's a great strike force. Can't imagine either of them showing much for the rest of the season though...
