Two European heavyweights have been drawn together in the last 16 of continental football's premier club competition.

City have paid the price for finishing as runners-up in their group, with there always the threat that they would land one of the favourites.

Blues boss Manuel Pellegrini has attempted to put a positive slant on things by claiming that his side have nothing to fear.

The Chilean said: "I think Barcelona will be very concerned that they have drawn us. They are not the team of two years ago."

Martino, though, believes City will be fearful of a two-legged tie with the Catalan giants, with Barcelona's recent record in Europe the envy of many of their rivals.

He said: "There were six outcomes and we drew Manchester City.

"You've got to play whoever you get but they will not want to play against Barcelona. They are important opponents with very good players, but we will go there to win.

"The most important thing is to arrive at their stadium in good shape and play well."

Martino also claims that he is looking forward to pitting his wits against fellow South American, and former Real Madrid, Villarreal and Malaga coach, Pellegrini.

The Argentine added: "It will be very interesting to have a game against a Pellegrini side as I think he is one of the best coaches in the world."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
