The Tykes had not managed to pick up a point since 23 October but they battled back well from conceding a lead to Kevin Davies.

Another Davies, Barnsley's Craig, ensured the match ended in a draw with a fine 25-yard effort, and that left Hill to praise his players for not letting their heads drop when they went a goal down.

Hill said: "It could have ebbed away at the little confidence we had, but it didn't and we looked strong in the second half.

"I'm really pleased with that and I just hope it gives the players a bit more confidence.

"We're happy with a point with respect to the results we've recently had. We can't complain and won't complain."

Hill was also pleased with the contribution of Davies and fellow forward Marcus Tudgay, who came in on loan from Nottingham Forest earlier this week.

"When you've got a goalscoring threat, the opposition have to respect you," he added.

"We haven't scored enough goals and, with having Craig on the pitch today and Marcus Tudgay, we looked more of a threat. I think it takes the pressure off the team."
