Beckford: Hamstring injury

The Terriers had been hoping Beckford would return in time to face former club Leeds in their West Yorkshire derby defeat, but the Leicester forward, on loan until January, sat out his fourth successive match and it was strike partner James Vaughan who returned to the bench following his thigh injury.

"He's making progress," said manager Simon Grayson. "Vaughany was obviously closer to full fitness, but we were only going to get 25 minutes out of him because he's just come back into training.

"It's nice to have him back and it's nice to have (Sean) Scannell back.

"We could sit here and make excuses that we've had (Keith) Southern out, Beckford out, but other players have had opportunities to produce and too many didn't deliver performances as individuals and collectively as a team to win a football match."

Defender Joel Lynch was withdrawn in the second half and Grayson added: "Joel has had a tight hamstring over the last couple of weeks and he felt he wanted to take the precaution of coming off, so that was a bit of a blow because he's been a good player for us so far."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!
