The Tigers had a couple of chances to win it, but goalkeeper Eldin Jakupovic pulled off a fine save to deny Blackpool winger Thomas Ince in the closing stages and Bruce was delighted with a third successive clean sheet and eight points from a possible 12 over the Christmas period.

"Games like the one on Tuesday are where you need that bit of resilience," Bruce told the club's official website. "It made for an awful afternoon and to all the supporters that made the trip across to watch us, we say thank you very much.

"I'm sure they will have been delighted with the team's resilience, but they didn't get to see any of the flowing football that has made us the team that we are.

"It's a very good point for us and you've got to take that away from home.

It's another clean sheet for us. Sometimes you have to work on your defensive shape and we've done that."

heyremind me of Utd's treble winning side. Swashbuckling and risk prone. We ha Jaap Stam to paper over the cracks at the back though. Not sure they have their Jaap yet.

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.
