Steve Bruce: Determined to repay Allam family

The Tigers boss has been ably backed by the Allam family again in this transfer window as he acquired Manchester United's Robbie Brady and Sunderland's David Meyler on permanent deals following their loan stints at the KC Stadium.

Bruce, who scooped the npower Championship manager of the month award for December, revealed he was pleased to keep two of his team's key cogs as he looks to maintain their current form heading into the home straight.

"I'm just like every supporter, we were desperate to try and get it done and, thankfully, the owners have dug deep again to make sure there's still a continuity in the team," said Bruce.

"We had a wonderful December and, with the window opening, it was a case of 'can we try and keep the team together?'

"To do that we needed to secure Meyler and Brady, two great signings for us. They are the right age - one's 20, one's 23 - and it's also the impact they've had on the team, they've had a great start to their careers here.

"The most beneficial thing to me was to secure them so we wouldn't be without them.

"They've both brought an energy and youthfulness to the team and they've both been key to the success we've had up to now, so it was paramount we brought them in."

On the owners, who also parted with a seven-figure sum for striker Nick Proschwitz in the summer, Bruce added: "Without their investment Hull City would beI don't know where it would be and that's the brutal truth of it.

"They've invested heavily in the club over the last couple of years and hopefully they are starting to see the rewards."
