Food for thought for Robins

New Huddersfield boss Mark Robins knows he has plenty to work on after his reign began with a 4-1 FA Cup defeat to Wigan on Sunday.

Wigan winger Callum McManaman and midfielder James McArthur were both recalled and scored for the Premier League side as Arouna Kone struck a brace, with Lee Novak's headed goal for Huddersfield proving only to be scant consolation for the home side.

Robins said: "The performance gave me some food for thought. There were some good areas and some which need a lot of work on.

"It is a learning curve and we have to learn from the experience. I thought they caused us a lot of problems with their movement and their quality. It was tough, although it was always going to be a difficult game.

"But I still think we were the architects of our own downfall because our problem solving wasn't quick enough. Their movement was exceptional.

"There were some glimpses of some decent football and movement. But the team is set up in a certain way and it is going to take a little bit of time to get it to how I would like it. At the same time, there is some good quality here.

"We scored a goal and were better in the second half and we got down the sides and created decent opportunities and got into the penalty area. But all too infrequently, really.

"We spent most of the day chasing around their players because they were excellent. They kept the ball well and we didn't keep it long enough to hurt them in any way, shape or form."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
