Steve Bruce: Has Hull City pushing hard for promotion to the Premier League

The Tigers have positioned themselves within the leading pack in the Championship and have 10 games left in which to try and wrap up a top-two finish.

A play-off spot would represent some achievement for a club few tipped to be among the frontrunners, but those at the KC Stadium are hoping to avoid treading that path if possible.

Bruce admits his side will need a bit of luck if they are to edge out their rivals, but concedes that anything is possible in what remains an extremely competitive division.

"We have had a crazy week - we have lost a couple of games by four and won a game by five - it's just one of those incredible weeks in the Championship," Bruce told Sky Sports News HD.

"It's such a difficult league, but we have given ourselves a fantastic chance.

"We were 40/1 outsiders at the start, nobody gave us a hope of getting up, but with 10 games to go we have given ourselves a chance - but then so have Crystal Palace, who have been on a good run lately, Watford have been on a particularly good run and Cardiff have set the pace from the start.

"There is still a lot to play for, five or six teams that are still in with a wonderful chance and thankfully we are one of them."

Big month

Bruce added: "There are a lot of games coming thick and fast in a short space of time, we have got 10 games in the next six weeks. April is a big month, where people have got six or seven games in a short period of time.

"It would be terrific if it went down to the last game of the season at home to Cardiff, that would be a fantastic occasion, but I think there are going to be a lot of twists and turns before then and a few strange results. Nothing would surprise me in this division.

"We are delighted to be there in and around it and let's hope we can stay injury-free and have that bit of luck that everybody needs and make a fist of it."
