Sean Dyche: Burnley boss has players back from injury

Defenders Ben Mee and Michael Duff returned to action from the start of Monday night's 1-0 defeat to Hull, along with Ross Wallace, and provided encouragement for Dyche on a largely lacklustre evening.

"I was pleased with those boys, Ben Mee in particular - he hasn't even had a proper practise game just because we physically couldn't get one," the Clarets boss explained.

"We rang every club we could but they couldn't fit one in so we had a practise game on the training ground among ourselves. I spoke to him about being ready and I thought he delivered with no real background of games.

"Duffo's the same, Ross Wallace is another who's come through. That'll do them the world of good to get back out there and get that game under their belt.

The trio's return meant bench duty for defenders Shane Long and Danny Lafferty but Dyche insists his youngsters should not take the decisions as a slight with games coming think and fast - Sunday's eagerly anticipated derby encounter against Blackburn at Ewood Park next on the agenda.

"They're two very young players earning their spurs who've done nicely for us," he added. "They've got more to come somewhere down the road, whenever that may be, and you know how quickly it changes.

"They took it as an understanding of their pathway, particularly Longy who is five games in or something.

"It's all part of their progression as footballers. Ingsy (Danny Ings) is still going in and out and in and out and playing well at times, Danny Lafferty's done well playing 20-odd games - a big part of his development for sure."
