The Foxes were in contention for a top-two finish not all that long ago, but have seen an untimely wobble drop them into sixth spot.

They remain inside the Championship play-off places, but have collected just one win in their last nine outings to drop off the pace.

Pearson believes his side are capable of finishing the season strongly and hopes Friday's clash with Millwall - which can be seen live on Sky Sports 1 HD - will provide the spark they are after.

He told Sky Sports News HD: "We've had a tough couple of months, but I do know that the players have a strong belief in themselves, as I do in them.

"I think it's important now that we get back to basics, in the sense that we get our performance levels right, and that we are focused on the job in hand.

"We have fallen away, there is no doubt about that, but we have got eight games left in which to make sure we finish the season strongly and hopefully get a bit of momentum behind ourselves.

"Ultimately, we have got to go out there and do it ourselves. Nobody else is going to do it for us. We have had some indifferent results, some poor results, and we have lost ground. But knowing the players as I do and their commitment to what we are trying to achieve here, I think the international break came at a good time.

"We have got to go out and do it now and Friday's game presents us with the next opportunity to do that.

"It will be a tough game, but we want to get back to doing what we do well - which is playing with confidence and making sure that we ask enough questions of the opposition, which we probably haven't done in recent games."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
