Neil Redfearn: Caretaker manager for the foreseeable future

Taking temporary charge of the side for the second time in 14 months following Neil Warnock's departure, Redfearn says he is taking things "game by game".

He told the club's official website: "I was asked by Shaun Harvey after the Derby game on Monday if I'd step up again and it's very much a game-by-game situation.

"I'm an employee of the club and I'm here to help. It's a needs-must situation and I will take care of things until the new man comes in. I'm not putting myself forward for the job, but I'm prepared to put my head above the parapet and help out.

"There's a lot of good people at this club and it's important someone is there to take care of it."

Redfearn was previously appointed caretaker manager after the sacking of Simon Grayson in February last year.

He presided over the first team for four matches, recording victories against Bristol City and Doncaster either side of defeats to Brighton and Coventry.

e was right to leave, but not just because of the money City were coming into. If I remember rightly he had a reasonable amount of chances to shine at City, but he never passed the bloody ball. Loads of aimless dribbles and 40 yard shots and not much else. I would say that if he had learnt to be a bit more of a team player he may have done better at City.
