Matty James scored for Leicester in the 73rd minute as they went in search of their first victory in eight games only for Kazenga LuaLua to rescue a point for Brighton two minutes from time.

The draw leaves the Foxes in seventh position, two points behind their opponents, but Pearson remains confident they can extend their season.

"We've played well and got some good results for the vast majority of the season. As a manager you have to take some criticism," said Pearson.

"But we've got five games to do enough ourselves. We've still got to play teams in and around us.

"One win in 12 games is not promotion form, but we've got a great opportunity to do it. We've got five games left and it's all in our hands.

"I'm not disappointed at all. We're out of the habit of winning but we showed a lot of quality today.

"We made some changes and the players that came in did a good job. It was a decent team performance.

"It is a question of getting over the line in games at the moment.

"I take a lot of positives from this match and although we need to start winning our games, if we show that desire and application I've no doubt that will come."

S I've always envisioned him as a Pirlo or a Scholes, though he needs some of Andy Murray's conditioning and shiny, ankle supports to keep his own from buckling under the tackles that will (inevitably) come his way. He's got the physique and low centre of gravity to flourish, but needs to make himself more resilient.

s a United fan I fell I can say this without accusation of bias, Sergio Aguero is for me the only player close to Ronaldo or Messi, what goes against him is his injury record, Hazard is good in fits but doesn't give enough end product in my eyes, Tevez would be 4th for me
