City need seven points from their last five games to ensure promotion to the Premier League and Davies believes a similar tally for fifth-placed Forest will guarantee their place in the top six.

Speaking to the club's official website, the Championship Manager of the Month said: "We probably need two more wins and a draw to get into the play-offs - maybe three wins. The Championship is a tight affair.

"It's another very difficult away game for us - Cardiff have done very well this year and have a lot of good players. But we know if we go there and be positive then we can cause them a lot of problems. We have the players to win the match.

"It should be an exciting game of football."
