McDermott has steered Leeds to successive wins in his first two games in charge and it was the manner of their success over Burnley on Tuesday night that most pleased the Elland Road crowd.

"I try to play a system that suits the players," McDermott said. "When I was at Reading we had two wingers, we had to play a pressing game and got out of the league playing that way.

"We won a lot of games 1-0, we were difficult to play against and this team here have got players who can pass the ball, so we play that way.

"I enjoyed watching them. We had a lot of the ball, players were comfortable on the ball and they looked like they wanted the ball.

"That's the most important thing because you have to be brave when you play football. You have to want the ball and they did.

"If you look at the possession stat I would say we were well out in front."

I

heard them all talking on Sky last night about how Liverpool could not find a decent striker to buy and ended up panicking and buying Balotelli at the last minute. They all forgot Liverpool found Loic Remy and for some unfathomable reason rejected him at the last minute due to some mysterious medical issue. Liverpool's loss is Chelsea's gain.
