The Scotland international has sat out the club's last two games - a 1-0 win over Huddersfield and a heavy 4-0 defeat at Watford - after receiving 10 cautions during the campaign.

"It was gutting to miss out but the ban is over now and I now have to try and get myself back in the side," Hanley told the club's official website.

"I suppose the rest is good but when you are in the team you want the momentum of keeping in the team and keep trying to perform well."

The side Hanley is returning to sits just two points above the drop zone with three games to go but a win against Kenny Jackett's side would see them leapfrog the Lions in the table.

And the defender wants to see the former Premier League winners grasp the opportunity to put some distance between themselves and the drop zone.

He added: "It is our game in hand so we have to make that count. We have to keep looking forward and be positive. These games are massive for us. We have to stay in this division."

The game pits Rovers against the side which denied them a trip to Wembley after knocking them out of the FA Cup.

"It was a quarter-final and a chance to play at Wembley so it was hard to take," Hanley added.

"The emotions afterwards are hard to explain. You don't get too many chances to play at Wembley so it was gutting. Now we've the league game we have to be looking for the three points. That is our focus."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
